Designing your eBook cover is one of the most important parts of publishing your eBook. Here is a step by step guide to designing a quality eBook cover for free!
1. Research
Many writers have no idea where to start when it comes to designing an eBook cover. A great way to formulate some ideas of what you and the market like is to head to amazon and look at some of the covers of other eBooks in the genre you are looking to publish in.

Once you find a couple you like take a screen shot and save them so you can remember the general design concepts.
2. Design
For those of you who aren’t graphic designers, there are several options to choose from when it comes to designing your eBook cover that make it easy and give you a nice looking finished product. One of the easiest and my personal favorite is Canva.
Canva
In the top search bar search “eBook cover”. Several free design templates will populate on the left side of your screen.

Choose the one that is similar to what you liked in your research. It may not be exactly the same, but choose one that’s close or holds many of the same design elements.
Once you have chosen a template it will populate in your workspace. You can make all of your edits here, and the navigation is very intuitive. Start clicking, editing, and dragging. Spend some time playing around.
Canva3. Download
Once you have a design you like the final step is to download the eBook cover. In the top right corner of your screen there is a download button. Click it and choose the JPEG file type option as this is the best file type for uploading to Amazon.

That’s it! Now you have a high quality eBook cover that you designed all on your own for FREE! It doesn’t get much better than that.
Happy designing!
