Trump Jr. flamed by Christians for botched Bible comparison

Lucifer would never dare quote the holy Bible, for the very incantation of Scripture would freeze his fiery hell over.

That’s according to Donald Trump Jr., who claimed that the “likelihood of Nancy Pelosi praying for Trump is about the same as the likelihood of Satan running around quoting the Scriptures.”

This would imply that Pelosi does pray for Trump as Satan does, in fact, quote the Scriptures.

“Once you realize that Satan quotes Scripture from the minute he shows up in the gospels,” Twitter user and preacher @wilsonhartgrove said. “You understand why Jesus reserves his strongest words for religious leaders who quote Scripture to lead God’s people astray.”

Wilsonhartgrov wasn’t the only Twitter user to chime in. “Satan” began to trend on the site, with more than 70,000 tweets populating the tag at the time of writing. People online let Trump Jr. know he apparently has shoddy knowledge of the Bible.

So very likely?Cause that’s kinda Satan’s thing in the Bible. He does it like literally every time he shows up. But, of course, you would have to actually read the Bible to know that. https://t.co/c6zVdfwXkc

Satan quotes scripture in Luke 3, Matthew 4 and Mark 1. Passages in which Jesus resists the temptations of using his own power and privilege to serve himself and his own self-aggrandizement. https://t.co/ogTwaTA9U9

“Satan quotes scripture in Matthew 4,” Twitter user @David_Leavitt said. “‘The devil can cite Scripture for his purpose’ is also a famous line from Shakespeare.”

William Shakespeare is quoted on Goodreads as writing about the Devil’s knowledge of the good book.

“The devil can cite Scripture for his purpose,” Shakespeare wrote. “An evil soul producing holy witness is like a villain with a smiling cheek, a goodly apple rotten at the heart.”

Some had a little more fun with Satan’s sudden spike in internet infamy.

“Is satan going to address the senate or something?” Twitter user @AndroidPriest asked as Satan was trending in Twitter’s politics section.
